Starting from Stocks Green in the centre of the picturesque ancient village of Castle Acre, we pass through the bailey gate and enter William de Warenne's C12th castle. We then descend to a delightful water meadow and follow a path along the crystal-clear water of the River Nar to a ford, where there are glimpses of the C12th Cluniac Priory ruins.
Leaving the river, we pass through the village of South Acre before ascending a farm track through the wooded Fingerhill Plantation. After passing by an area normally reserved for pig farming, we descend again, passing through woods before rejoining the Nar at West Acre ford and following it through another water meadow before ascending to the village centre.
