****This walk is for weekend walkers and is a repeat of the weekday walk held on Thursday, November 21.****
When the rest of the world is in Christmas preparations frenzy, why not drop the tinsel and wrapping paper and come out on a five-mile linear walk from Cathcart to Carmunnock with coffee at the end?
The walk starts at Cathcart train station and follows undulating paths in open countryside, taking in sections of the Magnificent 11 in reverse. The walk also includes a stroll through Linn Cemetery and Linn Park. Carmunnock, where the walk finishes, is Glasgow's only remaining identifiable village. Walkers will have the option of exploring the pretty conservation area and/or stopping for coffee in one of two cafés before catching the 31 bus back to the city centre for onward travel.
Booking for this walk opens on Saturday 7 December.
The terrain could be wet and/or boggy so please wear walking boots. There are sections of ascent and descent including stretches of steps to negotiate. There are also a couple of stiles to cross and a busy main road. A bit of everything!
Please contact the leader two weeks in advance to book a place.
We'll take the bus back from Carmunnock. It's the 31 and the timetable says it leaves the village for the city centre at 12.41, 13.16, 13.56 and 14.31
