On this section of the Centenary Way we will enjoy walking from Malton into the scenic Yorkshire Wolds.
Heading out of Malton through Norton we cross farmland and walk through the village of Settrington before joining Settrington beck which leads us to North Grimston. Leaving North Grimston we pass under an old railway bridge and head towards Birstall. After passing the grounds of Birdsall house we start to climb the hills into the Wolds providing some stunning far-reaching views back to Malton and beyond. To finish the walk we drop down into Thixendale where there is the option to go for a drink at the Cross Keys Inn 🍺.
⚠️ Some short sections of the walk are quite overgrown so please be prepared to manoeuvre around/through some vegetation
⚠️ Some sections of the walk are very uneven underfoot and may be boggy so please wear suitable footwear
🅿️ The are no suitable options for public transport between Malton and Thixendale, we will meet outside the village hall in Thixendale and car share to Malton where the walk will start from the Bus Station. Parking is available on the main street in Thixendale, please park considerately
🚻 Public toilets are available at the start of the walk at Malton Rail Station, just across the road from where we will start the walk
🐶 Dogs are welcome on the walk but must be kept on a lead, please be aware there are multiple stiles to cross, as well as fields where livestock may be grazing
