In this section Yorkshire Wolds Way (Section 2) we enjoy a variety of walking conditions, hills, forests, Wolds/Dales, farm tracks and a disused railway line. This walk, starting from South Cave to Market Weighton, is 12 miles long and includes about 457 Meters/1500ft of elevation gain, so a surprisingly hilly one!
Starting from the outskirts of South Cave, we rejoin the Yorkshire Wolds Ways, starting with a small hill up Little Wold Plantation, we continue past the Little Word Vineyard through West Hill Plantation up a steep hill in East Dale. We then cross the busy Hunsley Road then continue to walk down hill to Swim Dale. We then follow Swim Dale to Newbald Wold, on the Recce this was filled with sheep and lambs. We then continue uphill out of the Dale past Levitt farm and continue uphill, where we will stop for lunch.
After lunch we keep following the Words Way past a small wind farm reaching Arras Wold, from here we should have views over East Yorkshire. We then cross the busy A1079 and continue through Arras Farm. It is now all downhill, continuing through farm tracks until we reach the old Hull to York railway line. We follow the disused railway line until we pass St Helens Well, then continue until we reach the end of this section at Market Weighton
Important Note: This is a linear walk, so we meet at the end! of the walk at Market Weighton. Where we will then arrange carsharing to the Start of the walk.
