This walk will cover some of the history of Chichester via Centurion Way to Lavant, showing the involvement of the railway and the Romans in the life of Chichester. Additionally, there is the opportunity to see the recently restored Gateway Arch and also the artwork on Centurion Way near Lavant created by local Lavant Primary School children.
As a contrast, it includes some of the many city parks in Chichester including Oaklands Park (near Chichester Festival Theatre), Jubilee Gardens, Priory Park & Bishop's Palace Gardens.
This walk is level, the paths are good but there is some road walking.
Bring a picnic and sufficient water. There is the opportunity to use the cafe at Chichester Festival Theatre and also Fenwicks Cafe in Priory Park, both of which have toilet facilities.
The walk is timed to allow train access from Worthing. Alternatively, it costs £6.90 daily rate to park at Chichester Station carpark.
