The walk begins adjacent to Cheddar Reservoir, from where we proceed towards Axbridge, Up on reaching Axbridge, we pick up on the Portmead Drove, which continues onto Stubbington Drove. Following this route, we arrive at Cheddar Teo. If we pause and turn around at this point, there are excellent views of crook Peak to enjoy.
Continuing from Cheddar Yeo, we follow the River bank towards Hythe Bow Cottage and make our way into Cheddar. After entering Cheddar, we cross the A371 so care will be needed here. On the other side, we pick up the footpath, passing a few houses before reaching a couple of open fields. From here, the route heads uphill and joins the West Mendip Way Trai. This trail is followed towards Mascall's Wood and onwards, leading us into the Village of Cheddar.
Leaving the village, we walk along following the road out of Cheddar and head towards the Strawberry Line. This section of the route is followed for a short distance before we leave it, picking up the footpath that runs alongside Cheddar Reservoir. This final stretch leads us back to our starting point.
The walk may be muddy in places and there are a couple of stiles along the route.
Packed Lunch
Cafe stop could be included if all are happy to do so.
Dogs welcome but you may have to help your dog over the stiles and they will need to be on a lead around live stock and through the Village.
