Leaving the car park the route rises through the forestry of Cwm (Valley) Gofapi and up to Cefn (Ridge) Rhyswg. Taking paths and tracks across open countryside, with views across to the Beacons, we will make our way toward the edge of Mynydd (Mountain) Maen Common. Here we re-enter forestry which will take us past Craig y Glyn (Rock of the Valley) and Cwm Carn before once again coming out onto the common and joining the Cambrian Way. With extensive views across the Bristol Channel, we keep on this track along Mynydd Henllys ridge until we reach Twmbarlwm Twmp (Mound), and then onto the trig point. Having reached our highest point, we now descend back down to the floor of the valley and follow the river Cwm back to our starting point.
Use the main car park (first on right). As there is at least one other Ramblers walk going from this point on 15 March and the car park is well used by mountain bikers, walkers and others I suggest you try to get there early.
Car Park fee is £3.00.
