A bracing linear walk of just over 11 miles, capturing the lowlands and highlands of the Chilterns with Kite hawks, hares and skylarks. Railways, the Grand Union Canal, a village pub. Hills, vistas and woodland.
We meet Cheddington station car park 11.00 a.m. (or whatever time after the 10.57 scheduled arrival from London Euston actually arrives). Lunch at Ivinghoe Aston. Pub option: The Village Swan www.thevillageswan.co.uk.
A vigorous afternoon making most of the 1127 ft of ascent up the 'Beacon', some of it up footpaths, and sheeptracks. Take in the views, before the ups and downs along the 'Ridgeway' long distance footpath/bridleway to Tring station.

Take the train which departs London Euston 10.09 to arrive 10.57.
There are regular trains into London from Tring.
