We are the Waltham Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
Leaving Cheriton past the church and Upper Lambourne Lane we follow the wayfarers walk, skirting Hinton Ampner to Kilmeston where we branch off through West wood to Beauworth. Following Westwood Drove we pick up the South Downs Way to Honey Lane and head back to Cheriton via Hill houses. Picnic lunch.
As you would expect, there’s a lot of mud about which makes the going slippery. Poles are useful for extra stability. A few areas with puddles, particularly in woodland. wellies make things easier, although sturdy waterproof boots with gaters should suffice - there’s no wading involved. Four well maintained stiles and some very nice newly installed gates.
