A circular route of just over 12 miles that starts and finishes on the Chiltern Way which, at this point, is also part of the Berkshire Loop. Leaving the car park we head north, crossing Pinkneys Green and Cookham Common before turning west into Quarry Wood where we stop for coffee. Passing under the A404, we reach the village of Bisham where we turn south west eventually joining the Thames Path which we follow into Hurley, where we'll we will stop for lunch. Passing through the village we head south through Ashley Hill forest and Maidenhead Thicket back to the start.
There are a number of gates, no stiles and 190m of ascent. We will be crossing a number of roads that can be busy, so care will be required.
At Bisham there is a long term diversion to the Thames Path due to the Temple footbridge being closed. Whilst I have tried to minimise the road walking for this diversion there is a section of just over 1km along a lane that will require extra care. Otherwise the going should generally be good, even in the wooded areas unless the prolonged dry weather breaks.
Please bring sufficient food and drink for the day, to include coffee and lunch stops
Please check the weather forecast and ensure you bring all clothing and equipment you feel you may need.
