Overview

10.00 am departure. This walk is Moderate 8.25 miles, 1619ft ascent.  The initial ascent is up the quiet roads Stubbins Lane and Over Hill Road before heading North on the moors towards Hills Farm and East to Peep O’Day. We skirt Mount Famine and go over South Head (although there is the option to walk round the base). We follow the path to Shireoaks, Breckhead, White Knowle Farm and back to the start.  There are lovely views on this walk. Most of the route is good underfoot but there is mud towards the end. There is one public toilet in Chinley on Green Lane between Lower Lane and Derwent Drive. There is a railway station in Chinley within walking distance of the start.
