A walk of around 6 miles starting from the Malt Shovel pub in Chorley. We walk NE of Farewell, then down into Farewell, past the church and Farewell Hall. We then head SW to the south of Chorley to Cresswell Green, past the Nelson Inn, then on past the Drill Inn before heading north. We use a lane to skirt Gentleshaw Common, before heading east again along a short stretch of path aptly named Watery Lane, before we return to Chorley along a quiet lane to the Malt Shovel where you can imbibe refreshments.
There are some gentle slopes and be prepared for mud!

Meet at Wyndley Swimming Pool car park 09:15 for car sharing. Directions to Malt Shovel Pub, Lower Lane, Chorley: take A38 to Lichfield. From Limburg Ave, exit onto Walsall Road/ A461. In half a mile at the roundabout, continue straight onto Lichfield Road/ A5190. In 1.7 miles, turn right onto Farewell Lane. In one mile, slight right onto Coulter Lane. in half a mile, turn left onto Shute Hill. In 0.3 miles turn left onto Lower Lane. Pub is on right.
