Overview

“B” WALK DESCRIPTION: The B walk is linear starting at the village of Longnor just east of the main A49 road.  After a short initial walk in we arrive at the base of our first hill The Lawley.  We ascend the hill on a well graded track to its top at 370 metres.  Along the ridge we enjoy superb panoramic views of  the countryside all around and the neighbouring hills and valleys.  We descend, once again taking our time to enjoy the views.  At the base of the hill is Comley Farm and a brief lane walk brings us to the The Wilderness.  We follow the lovely sheep grazed level ridge to a wide track along the valley from which we soon turn off south along Cwms Plantation, another beautiful spacious grassy valley.  From the side of Wiltstone Hilk we ascend Hope Bowdler Hill and follow its north-south ridge before descending passing the rock formation Gaer Stone.  From here it’s a stroll across fields to Church Stretton where our walk ends. Be prepared for two ascents and two descents, which though steep in places are on wide well graded tracks, and one or two minor climbs in between – and the views are fantastic! Picnic lunch. Walk distance : 8.75 miles  Total ascent approximately 1,700feet (515metres) which mostly comprises ascents of the The Lawley and Hope Bowdler Hills.
