Starting at the NT car park in West Wycombe we will decend to cross the rail tracks and climb back up through Great Cookshall Wood, descending again to pass Bradenham Manor before we stop for a short break near the Red Lion pub (serving coffe, tea and cake). From here we recross the railway to head up again to Nobles farm and through Hearnton Wood and open fields to arrive at Piddington and then on to Wheeler End via the common. We will stop at Wheeler End for a late picnic lunch, having by now walked 7.5 miles; the Chequers pub is located here where further refreshments are available. The final part of the walk takes us through both Great and Hellbottom Wood, with some beautiful views and plenty of spring flowers to admire, arriving back at West Wycombe via a final steep climb up to the Dashwood Mausoleum and our start point. Please bring a picnic lunch and drink.
Meet at the National Trust car park at top of West Wycombe Road (continues on from Church Road) in West Wycombe. There are plenty of ascents and decents on this walk, which will mean plenty of fabulous views too! We will stop for a short morning break and for our picnic lunch at Wheelers End. Please wear waterproof walking boots and, if you use them, walking poles are recommended. There are no toilets at the start of the walk but it is possible to use those at the Walled Garden coffee shop on Chorley Road, where you can also buy hot drinks etc before meeting the group at the NT car park. Alternatively there are public toilets next to the primary school on Church Road. NB: the first hour of parking at the Walled Garden is free but you will need to display a ticket (available from the machine)
