The Clarendon Way is a footpath linking the cities of Salisbury & Winchester - starting & ending at the respective cathedrals, The trail spans across rural landscapes, including water meadows, chalk downland, and ancient woodlands. It is renowned for its historic route, passing near the ruins of Clarendon Palace.
PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU INTEND TO JOIN THIS WALK.
This is an established walking route & not one that I have personally walked before or recce'd.
It is 26 miles in length and will involve some sections walking on roads and may involve fields with livestock. Well behaved dogs are welcome on leads.
We will aim to have short refreshment stops roughly every 6 miles, with a longer lunch break around the half-way mark so please bring plenty of snacks/refreshments and plenty of fluids, especially if the weather is hot.
There are some villages that we pass through along the route so there may be the opportunity to buy additional provisions.
I plan to park in Winchester and catch the train to Salisbury the night before the walk and have booked a hotel.
If anyone would like to join for a pub dinner in Salisbury on Friday 12th, please let me know, otherwise please make your way to the start point at Salisbury Cathedral in good time for a prompt 9.00am start.
