This is the final section of our summer long distance walk, The Cleveland Way! This walk see's us start from Sutton bank and head 10 miles to Helmsley! We head from Sutton bank visitors centre and head to the view point of the Kilburn White Horse. We then go through some farmers fields, where will stop for lunch about half way through at Cold Kirkby. We then go into woodland before getting to a view point of Rievaulx Abbey (from a distance!) We then head onto Helmsley where there is a bit of up and down which we will need to be careful when muddy. This walk is mainly on good paths, quiet roads and farmers fields.
This walk will be taken at a leisurely pace.
⚠ This is a linear walk so read parking details carefully:
Meet at Helmsley Cleveland Way Long Stay Car Park at 10:00 to then car share to the start point at Sutton Bank Visitors Centre. Please do not pay for parking at Helmsley straight away as we will need to figure out how many cars we need to shuttle. If you are bringing a dog then this needs to be prearranged before the walk with someone who is happy to take your dog to/back from the walk. We will make sure that there is enough cars to take people back to the start point after the walk.
🅿️ Helmsley car park payment is around £7 for the day and Sutton Bank car park is around £6 for the day.
🐶 This walk is suitable for dogs but to be kept on leads at all times please.
🚻 There are toilet facilities both at Sutton Bank Visitors Centre and in Helmsley.
🍺 After the walk, we can go for a celebratory drink in one of the pubs in the square or to one of cafe's if people wish.
🥪 You will need to bring a packed lunch
