We are the East York Get Your Boots on Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.

This is a circular walk starting and ending in Thornton le Dale and passing through Dalby Forest. Starting from Thornton le Dale car park and crossing through the village we will follow Thornton Beck through to Ellerburn. We will then continue through Ellers Wood and up into Dalby Forest following the forest track. Picking up the road passing Low Dalby we will then re-join the forest track to loop round High Dalby House before taking the road and eventually the footpath to Dalby Visitors Centre / Courtyard Centre for lunch. After lunch we will pick up the Ellerburn track through the forest continuing back through Ellers Wood. Just before reaching Ellerburn we will turn up hill to join Outgang Lane and then drop back into Thornton le Dale via Church lane.

🚌 Coastliner 840 bus from York Stonebow (08:30) and Malton (09:15), and East Yorkshire X3 bus from Scarborough Station (09:05) – regular return buses through the afternoon
🚻 Toilets available in Thornton le Dale and Dalby Visitors Centre (lunch time)
🍺 Refreshments available at lunch and at the end of the walk
🐶 Dogs are welcome but must be kept on leads (the walk passes through livestock fields)
