Vertige Café serves cakes, pastries and vegetarian dishes. It has two rooms and a toilet. Please aim to be at the cafe for 10.45 at the very latest, though most people arrive earlier.
After coffee, at 11.00, we will start the walk. After crossing Higbury Fields, we continue through parks and gardens, reaching Caledonian Road after 1 mile. This is close to bus stops, Caledonian Road Tube Station and the Overground at Caledonian Road & Barnsbury. We reach Regent's Canal and pass near Camden Road Overground (after 2½ miles). We leave the canal to walk through Regent's Park and on to Baker Street Tube Station, where there is a possibility of tea.
We are mainly on hard surfaces, though there could be puddles along the towpath. We pass toilets in Caledonian Park and in Regent's Park.
We pass a few stops for the 274 bus, which goes to various Tube and Overground stations.
Bring a picnic if you plan to walk beyond Caledonian Road.
Vertige Café, 154 Canonbury Road, N1 2UP. This is very close to Highbury & Islington Tube/Overground Station, the other side of the pine trees on Highbury Island. Leave the main entrance to the station, cross the road opposite at the pedestrian crossing and turn right, to walk past the Marie Curie shop. Continue a few metres to the pedestrian crossing opposite the Hen & Chickens Theatre Bar, on the corner of Canonbury Road. Cross here and the cafe is a couple of doors beyond.
