The Barrel Boulangerie is a bakery and cafe with a toilet.
After coffee, at about 11.00, we start the walk. We go along The Green and downhill, through leafy suburban streets, along Warren Road and turn into the forest. We follow a woodland path through Wanstead Park, passing lakes and stopping at the Temple for toilets. At 1½ miles we reach a path that leads back to the end of Warren road. After 2 miles we reach Blake Hall Road and bus stops (for 101, 308 and W19 buses to Wanstead, Stratford, Walthamstow, Hackney, etc). We continue through woods and across commons, reaching Wanstead Flats and passing more 101 and W19 bus stops at nearly 4 miles. We head to Wanstead Park Overground (Gospel Oak to Barking Line) pass more bus stops and then finish at the nearby Forest Gate Station, on the Elizabeth Line.
There is a limit of 15 people and booking is essential. Please email Annette to book.
Bring a picnic if you plan to walk beyond the bus stops at 2 miles, but note there are no benches for eating our picnics.
We will be on unmade paths which could be muddy after rain, so walking shoes or walking boots are recommended.
