Overview

via Twyford, river Itchen and Brambridge. Picnic lunch. A permissive path enables us to join Woodland Drove. At a junction a left turn will pass us through farmland to a path which descends to Twyford.  A look at hidden Twyford takes us to the church. From here the route is across fields to Shawford. The Itchen Way beckons us forward, as we follow the tow-path beside the river to Brambridge. Footpaths then take us towards and through Colden Common, and finally Boyes Lane is our final steps back to the start.

Generally quite good conditions under foot. On the recce some overflow from the Itchen onto the path caused us to divert which added half a mile to the walk. Hopefully the river levels would have receded by the time the walk takes place. No steep inclines, and no stiles. Some lovely views across the Itchen Valley. At Twyford recreation ground Hunters Park mobile refreshments may be available for our morning break. Not guaranteed though!
