A circular walk from Trosley Country Park along the North Downs Way and the Pilgrims Way to the Coldrum Long Barrow Stones, an early neolithic burial site dating from around 4000 BC. This site is one of the Medway Megaliths and is the best example of its type in Kent. The route takes us through woodland, farmland and past the church of St Peter and St Paul, Trottiscliffe. There are extensive views to the downs. Bring your own refreshments for a nibble break half way through the walk. We will start from the car park at Trosley Country Park which has toilets and a cafe. Parking is £2.50 for the day with a card, (no cash option) or £2.70 with RingGo, Paybyphone or ECPparkbuddy. Location number is 682605. Nearby pubs for those who want a drink afterwards - The George in Trottiscliffe or The Villager in Vigo.
The walk takes us on bridle paths and footpaths and across fields. There's one very steep downhill flight of steps and several uphill slopes including one long and steep one with loose stones underfoot to return to the country park. One quiet road to walk along for a short stretch. Three fallen trees to negotiate - not difficult. No stiles. Paths could be muddy after heavy rain so sticks recommended.
