Overview

A moderate walk of around 8 miles with excellent views across the Trent Valley. Starting from Ye Olde Dun Cow pub, Colton, we join the Staffordshire Way walking on field paths, then through part of the village towards the Trent & Mersey Canal towpath, crossing the River Trent on one of James Brindley's acqueducts. We leave the towpath for our lunch stop at the ruined St Augustine's Church. We walk towards Rugeley Railway Station, then on field paths and lanes towards Stockwell Heath with its pretty duck pond, before rejoining the Staffordshire Way back to the pub.
