We are the Devon Bootlegs Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
This is my favourite coastal walk, which is a strenuous route along some of the wildest coastline in the southwest. We start on the north Cornwall coast at Duckpool and then head northwards along the coast path past the very large GCHQ Bude satellite dishes, which are perched high up on the cliff tops. Continuing northwards there are plenty of steep climbs and descents, but the views from the cliffs are excellent. We almost reach the Devon border before turning inland and heading back southwards on an inland route. As we do so we will pass through the village of Morwenstow where the plan is to stop off for afternoon tea at the Rectory Farm tea rooms. The walk back to Duckpool continues mostly on footpaths across fields and through some lovely woodland.
I have graded the route as strenuous as there are some tough climbs on the coastal section of the walk. If we start the walk at 10.30 then I would expect to finish it at around 6.30pm, although this will obviously depend on how fast we walk on the day. Because of the potentially late finish I have put the walk on on a Saturday rather than a Sunday. It should take around 1hour 30 mins to drive to Duckpool from Exeter. Looking forward to it :-)
