A pleasant circular walk through woodland, mainly, and other green spaces with a half mile stretch along a road pavement. Good views in all directions of Edinburgh and surrounding area, in clear weather.
Leaving Saughton Park, the route passes Carricknowe golf course, goes up Corstorphine Hill to the Rest and Be Thankful (overlooking Central Edinburgh), crosses down through Ravelston Woods, along Craigcrook Rd, to re-enter Corstorphine Hill, visiting The Tower, before descending back to the golf course and Saughton Park. On made paths and tracks.
If you would like to join us, please contact the Walk Leader (preferably via text) to book a place in advance. Please advise the walk leader of any issue that may affect your ability to complete the walk, if you intend to travel independently to the start of the walk, and/or if you are willing to drive/car share from the meeting point.
Also, if you have one, please remember to bring your ICE (In case of emergency) card with you; alternatively, a note of your proposed emergency contact name and number will be required in case of emergency.
As conditions underfoot can vary, stout walking shoes/ boots, gaiters and walking poles, if you use them, are recommended.
Please note that, unfortunately, dogs cannot be accommodated on our walks, however Guide/Assistance dogs are welcome.
