This is a pleasant walk from Coulter that starts just over the bridge at Nisbet turnoff - the same start place we use for Shaw Hill. The track opposite the car park follows a gradual slope up to the Mast, with views out across to the Clyde opening out as we go . We head downhill towards Unthank Farm and continue on a track just above towards Mid Hangingshaw until the track turns right downhill to the A702.
We cross the main road and follow a track just behind the beech hedge toward the entrance to the next farm, Nether Hangingshaw. From there the route is along estate tracks, through recently felled woodland and along a ridge, past the back of Highfield and down along the back of Coulter village to Coulter Mill.
We complete the circle via the Mill Lade path, another pleasant meander along Coulter Water back to the cars.
As there's a bit of steady ascent and descent, it's what Biggar Ramblers would call a Grade C+ walk. We’ll probably take about 3.5 hours (includes a coffee break).
