A walk following generally well-marked paths through Roslin Glen. We will be walking under a tree canopy alongside and above the North Esk River visiting a number of interesting archaeological sites including the Roslin Gunpowder Mills, site of the former Rosslyn Castle Station, Roslin Castle with glimpses of Rosslyn Chapel which you may wish to visit at the end of the walk. Please note that if you do wish to visit the chapel there is an admission charge and you will need to book a time slot. https://www.rosslynchapel.com/tickets-information/
This walk involves negotiating a number of steep steps. Most of these are for short distances of approximately 100m. During the second part of the walk paths are narrow, can be muddy and are a little steeper.
This walk will have a number of stops to rest and appreciate the surroundings. We will stop for a coffee (bring your own) at the old railway sidings and for an alfresco lunch in the remains of the castle.
At the end of the walk refreshments are available at Dolly's Tea Room, 2 Penicuik Rd, Roslin EH25 9LH.
