We start from the layby at the side of B976 at access gate to Loch Ullachie. The route is mainly along forest paths and tracks across moorland and some on landrover track. There can be some short sections off path. The route is quite muddy in places so gaiters are recommended.

It is essential for the walk leader to know who is coming on the walk and to be able to contact people should there be any changes. Good walking boots and waterproofs are essential. Also, a hat, gloves, and walking poles are required. Bring food and drinks. Gaiters are recommended.
Parking: Layby at the side of B976 at access gate to Loch Ullachie. Parking is likely to be limited, so we may first meet at Ballater Car Park and car share from there (to be arranged later).
Toilets: There are no toilets on the route. The nearest toilets are at Ballater Car Park.
