Having tackled Culter Fell last year from the Glenholm side, this time it is from the Coulter side. The walk starts at Culter Allers Farm. After following a farm track, the ascent starts by following a path over moorland, passing by The Bracs and Tippet Knowe, eventually arriving at the trig point at the top of Culter Fell. This is along but steady ascent, which has a short steep section just before the summit. The descent starts with a gentle slope to the old grouse shooting butts, followed by a steep section back down to the road.
Although challenging, this is a great walk with some wonderful views from the summit.
Good walking boots are essential for this walk, and poles are strongly advised, especially for the steep descent where care will have to be taken
