A London fly-through from Oxford Street in the West End to Whitechapel in the East, mainly on quiet streets and backwaters. We start from Soho and take in parks and tiny gardens, Inns of Court, St Bartholomew the Great and St Paul's, Thames Path, canals and dock basins, through to Whitechapel, escaping the crowds as far as we can. Some stops at important and/or interesting places, but the main point of the walk is to experience and enjoy London's diversity. Terrain is mainly paved and flat, but there are occasional steps and a few ups and downs. We may need to cope with crowds in places, and some roads need to be crossed with care. Pace will be moderate.
Train: Tottenham Court Road Station (Elizabeth Line - Dean Street exit). Return from Whitechapel Station via Elizabeth Line or District/Hammersmith & City Line.
Lunch: In area around St Paul's Cathedral. Picnic recommended as pubs and cafes will be busy.
Toilet: At Covent Garden, about a mile from start; New Change Shopping Centre at lunchtime.
