Devon in a Day 2 – Celebrating 50 years of the Two Moors Way
Witheridge to Morchard Rd (10 miles, 1300 ft of ascent).
Join Liam on a gentle journey through the remote and less-walked Mid-Devon, situated between Exmoor and Dartmoor. We will explore small lanes, fields and woodland and a wide range of unspoiled flora and fauna. There is a nice description of this section of the trail at https://www.macadder.net/walking/two_moors_way/stage05.html
This is a coach supported linear walk: Board the Coach at Blackwater or Bodmin. We will begin the walk at the village of Witheridge in Devon - the name is derived from the Old English for ‘Weather Ridge’, given its location on an exposed hilltop. Walking to Morchard Road where I hope we have time for a pint at ‘The Devonshire Dumpling’ before the coach picks us up at 4.30 pm.
There are 19 seats available on a minibus. Please email Liam to book a place < liamr.csawwalks@gmail.com >. The cost of this trip is £28, payment to be made to the Ramblers after Liam confirms your place. This fee is relatively high because we need to book a driver for the entire day: conversely, it’s a lot cheaper than an overnight stay in Devon. In the event that you need to cancel we can only refund the fee if another member takes your place.
