This is a six-mile hilly walk, starting from The Old Smithy car park in Godshill. It takes up past Freemantle Gate, down to Wroxall and along the Red Squirrel Trail. This is followed by a lunch stop at the Donkey Sanctuary (toilets, cafe and of course donkeys!). Then we end the wander by going back up and down the hill to Godshill. There are glorious views from most parts of this walk and no mud at time of writing.
The walk leaders are Roger M and Eric P who will be happy to answer any questions that you may have on 07740 541153.
New walkers welcome. If you are new to the Ramblers you can just turn up for any of our walks, unless we specify otherwise. We invite you to come along for three walks as a non-member.
Additional Notes
Depending on the weather, consider suitable, clothing, footwear, walking poles, sun cream, drinks, and food. Walking poles can be particularly useful in winter in helping you to stay upright! Watch out for ticks and remove ASAP. If you are unsure about your ability to undertake this walk, please contact the walks leader. If you need to leave the walking group, please ensure you inform the leader or back marker.
Please note that there may be short sections of road walking, so please walk in a single file and take good care.
Wise to look at the website on the day just in case of any changes or additional info. And in the event of extreme weather please check back for cancellation notices.
Emergencies
It's very rare that an emergency occurs, but we may need info about
- Any health concerns that you have
- Any emergency contact information
We'd ask you to make sure that we have ready access to this, if needed.
Some people may wish to carry an ICE (in case of emergency) card. We have Ramblers cards for this purpose. Do discuss this subject with your walk leader if it is of interest.
