Overview

From Elsecar Heritage Centre we tackle our main ascent of the day and the 3 stiles in the walk; this will give us stunning views across the area.  Skirting around the Fitzwilliam Wentworth estate, this part of the walk is extremely rural, given it's industrial past.  Gently up to the outskirts of Wath-upon-Dearne to Manvers Lake, once Manvers Main colliery.  A short walk from there takes us to the RSPB reserve at Old Moor for lunch.  Here, you can top up your picnic basket and buy a selection of drinks.  We follow the TPT alongside the Elsecar canal, making for a leisurely return to Elsecar.
