Overview

This is a great hike and follows quiet secluded footpaths, tracks, lanes with views of and from the South Downs.

We climb up onto the SDW and stop for a short break to take in the panoramic views and then follow the SDW west to Beacon Hill/Harting Down where we will have lunch and leaving the climbing behind.

Descending into East Harting for our return route, we take in a part of the Serpent Trail and a short part of the dismantled railway between Petersfield and Midhurst.

With so many pubs closing these days, a quick drink in The Elsted Inn on our return will help the new proprietors in a small way.

All welcome together with dogs under appropriate control. Couple of hills.
