Meet: Manor Park Centenary walk. The Centenary Walk, devised by Harry Bitten of West Essex Ramblers to celebrate the passing of the 1878 Epping Forest Act. Although the whole walk is 15 miles Finish: Epping Centenery Walk finish, it is designed with various start and dropping off points so that walkers do as much or little as they want.
The timings for the walk are as follows:
09:00 Start at the junction of Forest Drive and Capel Road, near Manor Park station
10:00 The centre of the Green Man roundabout, Leytonstone
11.15 The Highams Park Lake Boathouse, the Charter Road IG8 9RE for a coffee break
12:30 The Royal Forest Hotel, Chingford where we will stop for lunch (pub currently closed). Refreshments can be obtained from the Butlers Retreat, and there is much of interest to be seen at Queen Elizabeth’s Hunting Lodge and the Corporation’s Information Centre at The View
13:15 The walk will resume towards High Beach
14:15 High Beach
16:15 The walk ends at Bell Common, Epping (nearest station Epping TfL)
