Travel: From Currie, take the by-pass coming off at Lasswade junction, turn and drive down hill passing the Laird & Dog, continue over bridge and uphill and on to the A7 – turn right, down to Hardengreen roundabout, turning left and then left again after ½ mile into College and car park at Eskbank Rail Station.
Details: A circular Walk from Edinburgh College, Dalkeith. Turn right and you soon cross road to enter woodland at opening in wall, turn right and descend to grassy area in the Newbattle Estate, cross over and enter woods – turning right and back on to path to the A7, turn left passing the Sun Inn, then left into Lady Lothians Plantation. We walk through the woodland and on this walk passing the steps leading downwards, continue straight on until you come to more steps leading down to minor road towards Mayfield area – cross over diagonally left, and enter pathway – to the right, with high wall on the left, continue up to top, turning left into woodland pathway and soon pass Mayfield Golf Course on your right, continue with the path now going downhill and when the path divides, take left hand path going downhill and into the Newbattle College grounds, cross the bridge, go right past the College. Continue on to Maidens Bridge, turning left up path with Newbattle Golf Course on right, turn left and then left again and soon go through snicket to cul-de-sac with high wall on left to reach main road. Cross over and 2 choices, we will cross and go left to enter woods and take the path for about 1/2+ miles to reach the entrance in the wall that we entered. Cross road back to the College and car park.
