The walk starts from Fermyn Woods Country Park near Brigstock. We leave the park and follow the woodland and field tracks to Lyveden Manor and return via a quiet country lane which leads us back to the woodland. The road walking is about 2km. There is a mixture of scenery and the ground does slope in places. Lyveden New Build, near the manor, is an interesting National Trust property that dates from the Elizabethan period and is definitely worth a look.
We shall be starting from the Lyveden Country Park cafe which is stuated in the car park. The car park costs £3.50 but if you wish you can park in Brigstock and access the country park via the foot bridge that crosses the A6116. As this walk is a little bit further north than we usually go you may wish to consider car sharing.
