This low-level walk is a classic circuit along both sides of the mighty River Tay, following the banks past many beautiful and interesting features. The route embraces broadleaf and coniferous woodland, with some ancient and very tall trees, with open areas giving views to the surrounding forested hills. We pass the village of Inver before crossing the Tay by Telford's magnificent bridge into Dunkeld, with its superbly preserved 18th century houses.
Good waymarked paths and tracks throughout, though there are options to take narrower fisherman's paths at times. The route crosses the Jubilee bridge over the Tay beside the busy A9 but does not cross it. There are some minor road crossings in Inver and Dunkeld.
Walk grade: C+/Moderate
