This is a circular hillwalk to the West Lomond, the highest hill in Fife. The route leads past the fascinating rock formations at the Bunnet Stane, then taking a steep path up and over the West Lomond (summit can be bypassed). Our way then descends very steeply on a grassy hillside to Glen Vale, passing the rock formations of John Knox's Pulpit on the return to the Dryside Road and the car park.
This is a hillwalk so warm and waterproof clothing, hat, gloves, and spares, should be carried. Good, waterproof walking boots are also essential. The hill is relatively high and exposed and at this time of year, days are short and adverse weather can be expected. Please also carry sufficient food and drink for a fairly long day in the hills. The route is on informal hill paths, muddy in places, though there are sections of good tracks and a minor road (watch out for light traffic).
