Leaving the village via a hop field, we climb through orchards to a stretch of woodland and the source of the Alder Stream. Another climb takes us up to Amherst Bank, with great views over Dislingbury for our nibble break with the sheep and their lambs.
Down through Kent College woods, with plenty of spring flowers, and back through more orchards and fields on our way to Five Oak Green again. This is a lovely Kentish landscape walk.
The fields around the Alder Stream can be muddy. The ground is currently very uneven, with tree roots, branches, and animal holes on or near the path.
