Starting from the NT car park in Foremark Reservoir our walk takes us alongside the water to Carvers Rocks (Nature Reserve & SSSI), and part of the National Forest Way. We then leave the southern end of the reservoir to walk along quiet lanes, woodland and fields. After a couple of short stretches along the busy B5008 (Repton Rd) we return to Foremark via the main entrance.
Parts of this walk are quite undulating, but there are no long steep climbs. Total ascent is about 600ft. (For comparison, a lot of our Wednesday walks are around the 400/450 ft mark, ranging to over 1000ft on a few occasions). There is just one stile, and even that is optional as you can easily duck under the fence.
We will have a short break during the walk, so please bring your own refreshments.
You might like to join us by the water after the walk. There are plenty of picnic benches and there is a small kiosk near the car park providing hot and cold drinks, light snacks (ready-made sandwiches, pasties etc) & ice creams.
Please let the leader know if you would like to join this walk.
Car parking is £5 all day, but free for NT members, so please remember your NT cards. Car-sharing will help here.
