Overview

We are trying something different this week, travelling a bit further afield and walking through the Forest of Dean along the Sculpture Trail at Beechenhurst.  There are 18 sculptures for us to spot, a collection of artworks that have been inspired by the unique heritage of the forest., spread out over 4.8 miles of gravel path through the trees.  The walk is mainly flat but there is one uphill at the beginning and downhill at the end and some slight up and down during the walk.  You can find out more about the Trail here:  https://www.forestofdean-sculpture.org.uk/

There is a lovely picnic area, a cafe and toilets at the start and end of the walk so it would be nice to bring a picnic to eat when we have finished the walk but food is available from the cafe.

It is just over 30 miles, is about an hour’s drive and there is a charge for parking although the trail is free.  Because of this we thought we could make sure all our cars are full to share the cost of petrol and parking.  We will meet at the Lyde Green Park and Ride which is a free car park where you can share lifts if you want to and leave cars there for the day.
