Overview

The Golden Valley from "Bridges" is a delightful walk any time of the year, gradually climbing up to the Portway and then onto the Long Mynd. This part of the world is perhaps one of the most scenic in Shropshire, offering distant views of the Welsh hills. By following the Shropshire Way south past the Shooting Box and then turning right before Pole Bank, we shall return along another scenic ridge to Adstone Hill, which is then a short stride to the finish.

Coming from the south the easiest way to Bridges is to take the B4383 just north of Bishops Castle and follow this road as it winds north past Norbury, through Walkmill and into Bridges. At this point turn right into the pub car park. The same road can be picked up in Shrewsbury and followed south. PLEASE NOTE: WE HAVE PERMISSION TO USE THE PUB CAR PARK BUT AS SUNDAY IS A BUSY DAY I WOULD URGE PEOPLE TO CAR SHARE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE.
