We are the Kilmarnock & Loudoun Ramblers. We open the way for everyone in our local community to enjoy the pleasures of walking.
We begin the walk at the 'Fireman's Statue' at Central Station, Glasgow. We cross the river Clyde over the Carlton Suspension bridge into the Gorbals area. We will then proceed on a circular route visiting the Southern Necropolis and several interesting historical sites on the way, including the newly renovated Citizens Theatre. We cross back over the Clyde at St Andrew's suspension bridge and complete our walk following the Clyde through Glasgow Green. We will end our walk at St Enoch's Square and there will then be an opportunity to join together for a Christmas refreshment.
This is a C grade, Easy walk. Distance 10km.
It is advised to bring a small packed lunch which will have to be consumed outside. Hopefully the weather will permit.
The walk is all on pavements with some tracks, all on level ground.
Care has to be taken with the numerous road crossing involved with this walk.
