This is approximately a 6 mile walk. It is best categorised as a moderate level walk as it has many undulations & even some steep inclines.
The actual walk terrain is mixed, some established paths, woodlands & areas of open moorland. It is most probably going to be very very wet underfoot, so sturdy boots, possible gaiters and a walking pole are all recommended.
There are Highland cattle grazing in the park; we will need to keep an eye out for them & keep as far away as possible. This may affect our route but as there are many paths to take we will be sure to get in the planned mileage. We will plan to walk to the waterfall and around 2 reservoir pools as points of interest.
in addition the views from many aspects of the walk are spectacular ( weather permitting). From certain vantage points you can see the skyline of Paisley ( and beyond) & even planes taking off & landing at Glasgow Airport.
We will meet at the London Road Car Park as normal (8:45) for car share. We will leave London Road at 09.00. We will start the walk in the Robertson Car Park; Paisley; PA2 8UQ at approx 10:00
The journey from Kilmarnock is best taken by travelling the A77, exiting for Stewarton @ the Fenwick hotel, drive thru Stewarton to Dunlop, Lugton, then Left & then right on to the B777 , then right onto Glennifer Road B775 . The entrance to the car park is on your right BEFORE you head down the hill into Paisley. It is signposted.
Total mileage ( return journey ) 39 miles
If going to the start point directly please let leader know.
