A circular walk around the inner circle of Great Cumbrae, passing the viewpoint at the Glaid Stone, the highest point on the Island with great views in all directions en route to Millport. The walk is mainly along very quiet country roads but the initial section is along a faint footpath which can be boggy. There will be a short detour to visit a standing stone in the woods on the way back to the ferry.
You can park in the car park on the sea front by the ferry pier in Largs to catch the 10:15 ferry to Great Cumbrae (Boats are every 30minutes). Parking costs £10 per day, payable only by card. it may be possible to park in the street but spaces may be hard to find.
Ferry Tickets at £4 a head can be purchased from the office at the head of the pier where we assemble.
There are cafes and toilets in Millport and buses to take you back to the ferry terminal are available if you wish to shorten the trip or have purchased too many gifts whilst in town.
