This great walk follows part of the Geopark Way for which there is plenty of information on the geology and local history. There are great views throughout. The walk starts uphill to St Ann's Well and then on a more gentle incline to Worcestershire Beacon, down to the Wyche Cutting where we may stop for coffee at the H2O cafe which we have visited on many previous occasions. Along the back of the Malverns to Colwall, through orchards, up Oyster Hill, down to Wellington Heath and then to Ledbury to catch train or bus back to Great Malvern.
There are two significant hills but easily managed if not rushed. Mainly good underfoot. You may wish to bring poles if you use them on hills. Food and drink essential. Only a little overgrown in a couple of places so shorts can be worn.
This will be late finish due to stops, length of walk and use of public transport. Train times from Ledbury are 1535, 1600 and 1700. Bus times are 1540 and 1708 with a very scenic route stopping in Malvern outside the Foley Arms.
Car sharing will be available from Lady Byron Lane Knowle (Old Warwick Road) Solihull B93 9AG (near J5 of the M42) for a departure time of 8.40 am. Lifts are subject to availability. This is a round trip of approx.60 miles and a voluntary donation of £8 is considered to be a reasonable contribution towards the costs incurred by the driver. If you need a lift please contact the walk leader via text.
