This is a straightforward 7.5 mile circular walk along easy roads and tracks with panoramic views across the Firth of Clyde towards the Trossachs.

The majority of this walk follows the Greenock Cut, a designated ancient monument, which was built in the 1820s to supply Greenock with water. There are no styles to negotiate and there are toilets and a cafe at the start and end adjacent to the Greenock Cut Centre. On a clear day the views up to the Highlands are wonderful overlooking Greenock and Gourock in the foreground.

Once in the centre of Greenock follow the A8 until you reach the fire station building on your left. Turn immediately left and follow the road upwards for a couple of miles until you reach some traffic lights with a brown signpost left to “Greenock Cut Centre, scenic route”. Take this left turn up hill following the road and signs to the “Greenock Cut Centre”. Meet in the ample car park at the Centre.
