Overview

A good winter leg-stretcher taking in a variety  of woodland tracks which can be at their most atmospheric and readily appreciated at this time of year. We head across the Skirmett Rd and up towards Woodend Farm on tracks familiar to many of you. Through Kimble Wood, Gussett Wood and Great Wood and on via a section of The Chilterns way to skirt Hangar Farm and Hanover Hill before crossing the Frieth Road for our homeward leg. There is the opportunity for refreshments at The Yew Tree which is on our route back.

Some of the tracks on this route can be challenging if the weather has been wet so poles might be useful and good boots are essential as there is plenty of ascent.

Bring a packed lunch and a drink for our mid-walk break.
