This is a lovely walk in the Northamptonshire countryside starting from the picturesque village of Hanging Houghton. Hanging Houghton is noted for the site of a mediaeval great house which is a scheduled monument. We will be walking past it. The walk is on paths, byways and bridle ways so there are no stiles. There are some very muddy sections and a couple of steep hills. The walk affords great views of our lovely rolling countryside but it is exposed in places with strong cross winds.
Parking is limited. There are a few spaces on the A508 just beyond the turning for the village. Some street parking in the village and some spaces at Houghton crossing below the village. We shall be walking over the crossing so if you park there just wait until we arrive. The village is very close to the Swan at Lamport if you wish to have refreshments after the walk.
