The walk starts and ends at the Lodge in Longshaw. We climb up parallel to the Sheffield Country Walk in the direction of Burbage Rocks and then turn downhill to cross the footbridge before climbing up Higger Tor. We pass Mitchell Field and Scraperlow to reach Whim Plantation, before descending to Bolehill wood. We go through Hay Wood and pass the Grouse Inn en route back to Longshaw Lodge.
Catch the number 65 bus at 09.35 from the Interchange. Leader will join the bus at Furnival Gate. Plenty parking spaces at Fox House for those arriving by car. The starting point is the Lodge in Longshaw near the 65 bus stop. Walk starts at 10.15.
There are two quite steep hills and a scrambling section at the top of Higger Tor, but the rest of the walk is mostly on good paths and trails. Some sections may be rather squelchy underfoot if there has been a lot of rain shortly before the walk
There is a cut off point to Grindleford Station after about 6 miles.
Walk should end around 3.30. The cafe at Longshaw will be open until 4pm. There is a 772 bus from Fox House at 16.06. This only goes to Knowle Lane but you can catch another bus into town from there. There is also a 272 into the City Centre at 16.24.
